The Gol Mountains are about 915 meters above sea level. They are covered in plains that have short grass. The Gol Mountains are located along the Ngoro Ngoro area on the Northern Edge.
These mountain ranges are made up of several ridges. Several scientists have asserted that these ridges have characteristics of some of the oldest geological structures that have existed for over one million years.
There are several herbivorous animals in the Gol Mountains due to the short grass in the plains. The area receives good amounts of rain. The rainy season runs from March to June and October to November. The rest of the months are dry.
The Gol Mountains are an ancestral home of the famous Masai people. These mountains have fertile soils that facilitate the growth of grass on the plains that attracted the masai people to this area since they are pastoralists.
The area is also on the boundaries of the Serengeti and Ngorongoro conservation Areas. The Plains also facilitate the migration of Animals from Serengati to Masai Mara in Kenya and Back.
The Gol Mountains also have an option of hiking the Oldonyo Lengai which stands at about 2878m above sea level. When you reach the summit, you can descend to the bottom of the Great Rift Valley into Lake Manyara National Park.
Best time to Visit the Gol Mountains
